Project Stone

Do you recognize that? Those moments in your life that you think I should make this choice now! It feels good deep inside and this is the time. But at the same time it is: What am I doing? That, in a nutshell, is Project Stone and the preparation of my walk of 1,470 kilometers to Santiago de Compostella.

61 Stones I took on July 31, 2015, for my trek of 61 days from Espalion (France) to Santiago de Compostela (Spain). The stones are unique. And each painted by me by hand, in the Netherlands before the journey. The paintings were inspired by the theme that each of the 61 clients gave me.

This theme was something that I should leave behind for him or her, along the pilgrim path. For example, a memory or emotion. Or something that person would like to share with the rest of the world. Inspired by this theme or story painted the stone with a miniature (for departure). During my trip every day, I left one stone behind along the Camino. This stone was published daily on my website and social media, with of course, the name of the giver. After arriving in the Netherlands, every person received from me a certificate of authenticity as a reminder.

After a walk of nearly 2.5 months, I came back in the Netherlandson on October 13, 2015. It was a wonderful trip! And an amazing art project. Thanks for all the nice comments (see Facebook and my website) of both participants and those who have followed the project.

For the people I’ve met during my hike. Thanks for the inspiration … for the new project.
